Our Workshops

enriching minds for musical success
  • Cello Masterclass

    The Road To Cello Playing

In this masterclass, we encourage students to perform etudes, exercises and standard cello repertoire. Caleb goes into depth about how to develop an organized left hand as well as becoming more comfortable with bow. We highly recommend students spend time practicing etudes by Dotzauer, Lee, and Popper to have a well-rounded and efficient cello technique.

  • Bring Your Best

Performing At Your Best Even Under Stress

In this workshop, we will focus on developing our confidence on stage. Often times we forget that the majority of the work happens many weeks, months, and years before the gig. We will work through practical examples of how to BE PREPARED for your next performance. Furthermore, many musicians, actors, public speakers, and athletes experience physical changes as soon as it is showtime, which reduces the quality of their overall performance. These are all symptoms of performance anxiety that can be overcome by understanding the nature of stage fright. The class will give a hands on approach to overcoming this anxiety so that each participant will leave the workshop feeling empowered with the ability to communicate themselves with more confidence to the audience which will result in a higher level of performance.

  • The Art of Practicing

  • An Organsied Approach To Practicing

How do we become better performers by improving our approach to practicing?.

This masterclass will be a continuation from the concepts that were presented during the "Conducting Your Body" workshop. We all wish to be in a state of constant growth as musicians, but there are many factors that hinder our development .

  • Conducting Your Body

The Path To Freedom In Performance

Many musicians can think back to their very first performance and how the experience was very different from what they felt like whilst preparing the music in the comfort of their own practise space. It is common for musicians to forget that they must prepare both mentally and physically when preparing a concert.

The negative effects of tension in performance:

    • Singers may notice that their vocal range is not big and therefore they struggle to reach high notes during performance.

    • Brass and woodwind players notice that they experience dry mouth, which messes up everything.

                                       • String players may experience less finger control and shaky hands that effect their overall music making.

                                       • Pianists can become fatigued because of excessive "banging" on the keyboard.

  • The Art of the Bow

A masterclass for violin, viola, cello, and bass players (from beginner to advanced)

Learning how to efficiently use the bow as a string player can be one of the most difficult things about playing a string instrument. In this masterclass cellist Caleb Vaughn-Jones will demonstrate a wide variety of tips of how to practice in order to gain the most control with the bow during performance. Caleb will also share a variety of practice tips for the bow which can benefit young students as well as seasoned professionals.
